La convocatoria Bee2be me entusiasmó desde que fue anunciada porque, si bien la temática global son las abejas, es un reto adecuarla a las nuevas directrices y también procurar no repetirme a mí misma en relación a mis propuestas del año anterior.
En esta ocasión, debíamos trabajar con la diversa flora que compone el hábitat de la abeja Melipona, lo cual de inmediato me llevó a desear que la apariencia final de los diseños tuviera aires de las ilustraciones que solían verse en las láminas a color de los diccionarios y las enciclopedias: anatómicamente precisas, pero siempre llenas de encanto y delicadeza.
Tuve la oportunidad de trabajar con más tiempo, lo cual me permitió experimentar con mi material de referencia y photoshop para lograr ese efecto. Al final logré una mezcla entre dichas ilustraciones y los bodegones barrocos. Sinceramente, me gustó mucho el resultado.
Como con cada tema que uno investiga sesudamente, aprendí sobre los árboles, flores y frutos del sur de México, el cómo la Melipona es indispensable para su polinización y que el color de la miel de esta abeja, depende de la flores que tome como su alimento, además de darle propiedades medicinales muy particulares. Gracias a ello ahora reconozco en Guadalajara algunos de esos árboles.
Ha sido un placer vivir nuevamente esta experiencia, gracias a Modapremio, Bee2Be y la señora Anna Fusoni por la oportunidad y organización del concurso.

The Bee2be call has excited me since it was announced because, although the global theme is bees, it is a challenge to adapt it to the new guidelines and also try not to repeat myself in relation to my proposals from the previous year.
On this occasion, we had to work with the diverse flora that makes up the habitat of the Melipona bee, which immediately led me to wish that the final appearance of the designs had an air of the illustrations that used to be seen in the color plates of the dictionaries. and encyclopedias: anatomically precise, but always full of charm and delicacy.
I had the opportunity to work with more time, which allowed me to experiment with my reference material and photoshop to achieve this effect. In the end I achieved a mix between these illustrations and baroque still lifes. Honestly, I really liked the result.
As with every subject that one seriously investigates, I learned about the trees, flowers and fruits of southern Mexico, how the Melipona is essential for its pollination and that the color of the honey of this bee depends on the flowers that it takes as its food, in addition to giving it very particular medicinal properties. Thanks to this, I now recognize some of those trees in Guadalajara.
It has been a pleasure to live this experience again, thanks to Modapremio, Bee2Be and Mrs. Anna Fusoni for the opportunity and organization of the contest.
